"Tea Around The World" - Children's Benefit Tea
Did you know that Elephants were imperitive to Indian tea plantations because they were the only means of transporting tea and workers through the thick jungles and were too large for tigers to attack? Or, that the Empress Lei Zu discovered silk while she was drinking tea in her garden? How about that both iced tea and the tea bag were American inventions? There are so many ways that tea and the traditions surrounding it have been woven through history, and we would like to share that story with you and your children.
The "Tea Around the World" global tour will take place on Saturday, October 2nd at 11:00 am. Boys and girls, ages 5 to 14, are invited on a tea adventure that will take them on a journey through China, India, Japan, Africa, England and our own United States. They will taste teas and foods authentic to the culture, as well as participate in crafts, facepainting and other educational activities. Children will take part in a traditional Japanese ceremony, visit the 1904 World's Fair and see a reinactment of the Cestertown, MD Tea Party just to name a few of the highlights.
Travel tickets are $15.00 per child. Parents/chaperones are free and are welcome to join the journey, however, only the children may participate in the hands-on activities. The guided tour will be structured and supervised so that parents/chaperones are welcome to make a reservation to have tea in the inn.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Carroll Child Care Center, a non-profit child care program that provides affordable day care to families of all income levels.
To reserve your passport or for more information please contact us at 410 857 0058. We hope to see you in October!
"A Cullinary Experience"
We will be participating in "A Culinary Experience" to benefit Rape Crisis at Martins Westminster on Monday, October 11th.
"The Book Nook"
All our books have been incorporated into an area in the morning room. Browsers will find tea resource books, cookbooks, tea party information, and books on tea etiquette. We are especially delighted to once again feature the Tea Shop Mysteries by Laura Childs; a must read for tea lovers.
